Mihail’s research interests are in robotics and artificial intelligence. He is motivated by fully and partially autonomous systems that exhibit efficient, intelligent and reliable behavior in real-world environments. His focus is on motion planning and control, as well as their integration with perception, state estimation and other systems that enable capable robots. He is interested in exploring the application of optimization and learning methods to analyze systems and to design efficient representations that make complex planning and control problems tractable.
